Twenty-six-year-old Sarah Nwankpo is now cooling her heels in the custody of the Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department. It was for the murder of her male friend, Igbodike Anthony, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She admitted to having stabbed the deceased during an argument over more sex, in his apartment Obiri-Ikwerre area residence. During interrogation, it was discovered that she had sneaked out of her boyfriend’s place for the deceased’s residence on December 22, 2023. Suspend NYSC over insecurity, CSO tells FG

  A    civil society organisation, the Human Rights and Justice Group International has called on the Federal Government to suspend the National Youth Service over the spate of killings and kidnapping in the country. The group stated this against the backdrop of rising of killings occasioned by kidnappings, terrorist attacks and other criminal activities across the country. On February 2023, gunmen reportedly kidnapped 15 NYSC members at a motor park at Iseke in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State when they were travelling to Lagos. They were, however, rescued by the state Police Command.   A sand-filled heavy-duty truck collided with a moving vehicle along Airport Road in Lugbe, Abuja, on Monday, killing a radio presenter, Deborah Ohamara. According to a Facebook user, Nten Ekpang, who shared details of the accident, “A car hit Deborah Ohamara from behind while she was driving and she rammed into a moving trailer. She died from injuries sustained from the crash.” Confirming Ohamara’s death, Nigeria Info 95.1 FM wrote, “We sadly announce the passing of Deborah Ohamara (Debbie) a brilliant and loved broadcaster with Nigeria Info Abuja. Ohamara, who was a staff of Nigeria Info 95.1 FM Abuja, was driving from the airport axis when a vehicle hit her car from behind and she rammed into the moving truck.” The incident, which happened by 3pm on Monday, caused traffic gridlock on the expressway.
